Navigation
Early explorers and Gold miners have left a network of poorly marked tracks and trails through difficult terrain which the course will follow. We can't emphasise enough the importance of navigation - during the check-outs we constantly referred to the maps and several times followed incorrect ridges or took lengthy periods of time through some sections to ensure that we stayed on the correct ridge line.

Your navigational skills will be crucial for you to make it to the finish line of the Adventure Racing World Championship or more importantly on to the podium. You will be supplied with 1/50,000 maps covering all areas of the course. Please note that if you are coming from the northern side of the world you will need to purchase southern hemisphere compasses here in NZ.
